The Small Screen
Made for TV Reviews, Made for You
This is it Star Wars fans, our next entry in the Star Wars universe is here, with Rouge One. Looking to fill every waking hour with Star Wars? I highly encourage a binge of all 6 seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, available on Netflix.
Don't let this "cartoon" sway in your decision to avoid it. Are there some silly episodes for young kids sure, but there are also a ton (especially in the later seasons) of very dark and intriguing storylines, that will make any Star Wars fan sit on the edge of their seat. First airing in 2008, the Clone Wars Series follows along with Obi-Wan and Anakin (along with numerous supporting characters), focusing on the adventures which took place during the Clone Wars, falling between Episodes II and III, of the live action movies. I will stress, like any new series, Season One is by far the weakest of the 6. However, this show truly hits it stride with each new season after.
The main reason this show is worth a watch, for any big fan, is to dive deeper into the lore of the extended Star Wars universe. Want to know what transpired between Episodes II and III? The relationship and bond the Jedi's have with the clone troopers? Examples like those, including expanded stories of the characters you know and love, with almost every popular Star Wars characters making some sort of appearance. You also get to meet newly created characters in this series, which quickly became fan favorites (for example Anakin's apprentice Ahsoka Tano, seen above and below).
The animation and direction of the series becomes outstanding as it moves along, with it almost feeling more like a movie, than a 22 episode season. The action and vistas themselves are also just as impressive, with the series having some of the coolest lightsaber battles and action scenes I have ever watched. I would even call it better than the prequels! Here are a few non-spoiler highlights of what you can expect in the series.
You were seeing that correctly, she beheaded the 4 guards standing around her...the show doesn't shy away from violence. At times, it's not for kids.
The entire series is available on Netflix with 6 seasons, and 121 episodes in total. With each episode usually being around 20-25 mins. Not all episodes are winners. Personally, the episodes revolving around the political side of Star Wars Universe never intrigued me, but to each his own. This show is a must watch for any big Star Wars fan, and you won't walk away disappointed. I would love to dive into more topics, but it's better to keep things vague, to not spoil any of the story. Anyone out there already watched the series? Let us know if you agree with our recommendation!
